Anthony Bernard Thomas
February 15, 1984 - January 20, 2025
With heavy hearts, we honor the life and passing of our cherished son, loving grandson, devoted father, and a loyal friend. Anthony Bernard Thomas went to be with our Lord on January 20, 2025, at age 40.
Anthony was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and was a beloved only child who cultivated lifelong friendships that made his life vibrant. A passionate music enthusiast, he was a member of the collective band “Common Threat” alongside one of his best friends, Marcus Goins. At an early age, he loved animals and had a pet iguana which he adored. He once brought home a stray mother cat with her six kittens for his auntie Jacqueline to take care of. At 18, Anthony relocated to Las Vegas with his family.
Anthony joined the Nevada Army National Guard in 2008 and served our country proudly. He served as a
Military Police non-commissioned officer in the Nevada National Guard. From September 2008 – September 2018 served in the 137 th Military Police Detachment as a Radio Operator, Military Police Clerk, and Military Police Investigator. In addition, SGT Thomas also deployed twice during this time to Afghanistan in 2010 – 2011, and in 2016. SGT Thomas also served in the 72 nd Military Police Company from October 2018 – January 2025 as a Team Leader and Assistant Squad Leader. SGT Thomas attended military schools for Military Police Investigator in 2012 and Non-Lethal Weapons Instructor in 2016. SGT Thomas awards and decorations include the Combat Action Badge, Meritorious Unit Citation, Army
Service Ribbon, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Armed Forces Service
Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, and Army Achievement Medal.
His military family remembers him:
“SGT Thomas, one of the most honorable and respected Soldiers. His military professionalism and mannerisms were always above the rest. He served with honor. Until we meet again.”
He continued to serve the community as a civilian, providing safety and security in the Nevada Community, predominantly at Caesars Entertainment.
Anthony brought us so much joy to our lives with his kind heart, energetic spirit, and artistic expression. His love of drawing, doodling, and etching brought his family and friends much happiness. He was a passionate chef and grill master. He could talk about “food” for hours. He had a deep love for reading, a passion for music, and a boundless curiosity for learning. His spirituality was inclusive and diverse; his beliefs and search for truth manifested in his respect for all cultures and religions.
This quote from Buddha reflects Anthony’s spirituality:
“Peace comes from within, not out there. You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.” and “Three things cannot be long hidden: The Sun, The Moon, and The Truth.”
Anthony Bernard Thomas is survived by his parents, Natalie and Calvin Thomas, two young daughters Genevah and Niveyah, the Mother of his children, Suzette Chapman, his grandmother, Linda Hunter, and his auntie, Jacqueline Holloway. Anthony was preceded in death by his son, Justice Malik Thomas.
