Jeffrey Demetrius Walker

September 3, 1955 — June 11, 2024

Deacon Jeffrey (Jeff to the Left) was born September 3, 1955, in Bay City, Michigan to Leffie Divisca Walker Sr. and Ollie Mae Walker and was the third of four children in his parents’ union.

In 1965 Jeffrey’s mother relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada where he was baptized at an early age at Evergreen MBC. He attended Madison Elementary School. In 1967 his mother moved into the Herbert Gerson Projects where he acquired many friends, one of them being Minister Claudie Roby (Little Bro) which is the name Jeff gave him. He attended Highland Elementary School; Garside Jr. High School where Joey (Mo Jo) Bryant became his closest and dearest friend until this day. He graduated from Rancho High School in 1973. He went on to further his education at the University of Reno, he then transferred to UNLV where he graduated and received a “BA” in Philosophy in 1980. After graduating he joined the United States Army. After an honorable discharge from the US Army, Jeffrey managed his parent’s shoeshine business at the Golden Nugget Hotel. He later managed a shoeshine booth at the South Pointe Hotel, where he opened the door for many others in the shoeshine business.

In 2009 Jeffrey met the love of his life Ms. Deborah Lee where she introduced him to The Greater Mt. Sinai church family. Soon after he became a part of the Mt. Sinai church family. In 2015, Jeffery and Deborah were joined in holy matrimony, at that time by Dr. S. S. Rogers, Pastor/Teacher.

His work history includes banking, construction, business, and management. He worked for Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority as an HCV Housing Quality Standards Specialist until his passing. Jeffery was a faithful and dependable employee. He loved his job and co-workers.

Jeffery lived his life to fullest, but most importantly he loved God wholeheartedly. He loved his Bishop and Only Lady Rogers and his church family. He served as Deacon, Vacation Bible School Teacher, and Sunday School Teacher under the leadership of Bishop Dr. Sylvester S. Rogers, Teacher until his passing.

Preceding him in death are both his parents, his brother Major Walker, and his sister Geraldine Walker.

He leaves to cherish his memory: His wife Sister Deborah Lee-Walker, one son Jeffrey Walker Jr; two step-daughters Aisha Johnson, Heather Lee, and one step son Chauncey Lee all of Las Vegas, Nevada. Three brothers Leffie Walker Jr. (Lisa) of Las Vegas, Torray Walker (Allison) of Kentucky, and Arthur E. Arnold of Michigan; one sister Yovonne D. Starks (James) of Michigan. A special niece and great-nephew Farren and Braden Walker. Grandchildren: Jada, Mycah, Little Chauncey, Kennedy, Kyrie; a childhood and lifelong friend Jimmy Kent Portillo and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
