N.L. Crawford III was born in Los Angeles, California to the late N.L. Crawford Jr. and Dorothy Mae Antoine on May 20th, 1955. During his teenage years he moved to 52nd Street in South Central Los Angeles with his grandmother, Sephora Crawford and grandfather, N.L. Crawford Sr. who he called, Papa.
N.L. graduated from Crenshaw High School in Los Angeles, California. He continued his education by pursuing a career in Architectural Design and later worked for AT&T as a Fiber Optics Technician. In 1973, N.L. met the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Andrelle Lavon Sankey, who he calls (Gorgeous) whom he devoted his life. They married in Lake Tahoe, Nevada on December 25th, 1981. To this union was born, his son, Adavian Sashiem Crawford (king of all kings) and daughter, Madreia Nichole Crawford, whom he vowed to give his life for. His patience and resilience was unmatched; N.L. 's nickname was Butchie, and all his family members called him Butchie! He was musically inclined, a self- taught Bass Guitarist and songwriter always in a corner thumbing his bass. We're really gonna miss the sound of that bass!
N.L. Crawford departed his life on Wednesday, November 20th, 2024, Butchie was preceded in death by his father N.L. Crawford Jr., mother, Dorothy Antoine, and sister, Victoria Crawford. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Andrelle Sankey, his children, Adavian Sashiem Crawford and Madreia Nichole Crawford. His grandchildren, Amazi Harris, Coleman Harris, David Elliott Harris, Aniyah Crawford and one great grand-son, Robert Nicholson Jr. Three brothers, Lonnie Crawford, Derrick Brown, James Green, and sister, Kimberly Brown. Eight nieces, Cheyenne, Shalonna, Shaniece, Danielle, Kanisha, Courtney, Kylie, and Kamryn. Four nephews, Derrayland, Derrick, Erek, Devante, and a host of loving relatives and friends.
