Reginald Karl Johnson, born on June 5, 1956, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, peacefully passed away on May 20, 2024, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the age of 67. Reginald, known affectionately as Coach Johnson, left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
His journey through life was marked by his extraordinary impact on everyone around him, earning him the reputation of being the most "rooten tooten bad ass of the 2000s."
Reginald graduated from JM Harlen High School in 1974 and went on to earn his degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1978. He was a talented athlete, who excelled in track and field during high school and college, earning the title of All American Athlete. In 1996, he founded RKJ Associates, a Printing Broker in the Entertainment Industry, where he dedicated himself to his career.
Reginald passed away leaving behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and unforgettable moments. He will be deeply missed by his daughter Nakiya Davis, sons Reginald Johnson (Dina Johnson) and Keland Johnson (Kassie Johnson), grandchildren Khoury, Aiden, Quinn, Kadence, Colt, and Maya. He will be forever cherished by sisters Cassandra Carol McAdams "Peaches", Yolanda Joy Wilson "Cookie", Wendy Suzette Williams, and Arthea Regina Johnson "Ginger". He shared many meaningful years with Cindy DuBois and Leslie Humphrey. He also leaves behind stepchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceding him in peace were his parents, Mildred Louis Johnson and Earl Johnson Sr., and brother, Earl Johnson Jr.
His strong presence, softened with the arrival of each grandchild. Those moments softened him, transitioning him from the strong coach to a loving grandfather. And it was a testament to his capacity for love and growth. He held many titles in his life, from coach to entrepreneur, but his favorite role was dad and grandpa. He stepped into roles as stepfather and father figure, forming unbreakable bonds.
Reginald Karl Johnson's legacy of dedication, resilience, passion, and love for his family and sports will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him. His favorite playful twist on the word "can" to "kan" will remain a fond memory. He was a gift in our lives, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
