Theresa D. Grinstead

Theresa Darrell Grinstead was born on February 2, 1950 in Houston Texas to Ernest Washington and Orish B. Washington to that Union she was the eldest of 11 Children. As a shy but intelligent child, she received her education in the Houston area schools and devoted her life to Christ at an early age at New Community Missionary Baptist Church.

In 1966 she united in marriage to Melvin Corsey, who proceeded her in death. To this union 4 children were born: Gregory Corsey, Andrea Randolph, Deveyous Corsey and Shonett Corsey. In 1977 Theresa united with the love of her life Carlton Grinstead and to this union 3 children were born LeMisha Fields, Orish and Irish Grinstead. Theresa cherished her children and loved them all with unwavering devotion.

Theresa worked for the city of Houston as a typist and was promoted to being the assistant to mayor, Kathy Whitmire. She later continued her education, receiving her associate degree from Bryman School of Medicine and began her career in the medical field. In 1986 she relocated to Las Vegas NV where she worked as a dialysis tech in which she was then promoted to an apheresis emergency technician.

Theresa was a beautiful ray of light with a radiant soul. She was known for her nurturing nature and loved caring for people, especially babies. She possessed empathy and maintained a keen awareness of global affairs. She loved politics, which is why she always encouraged people to be the best version of themselves. She loved giving, especially where she felt it was needed to all. Theresa could cut a rug and she loved music.

Theresa was preceded in death by her Adoring parents, her special Aunt/Guardian Ruby Lee Will Kuykendahl, her sister Deloise Washington, Brothers Lonnie Washington, Quinton Washington and Larry Washington (Gwendolyn), her children Orish and Irish Grinstead. Leaving to cherish her memory her brothers Ernest Washington (Rhonda), Terry Washington (Jennifer), Jonathan Washington (Lavern), Rodney and Ronnie (Stephnie Alexander), her sister Dr. Laura Mitchell (James), Jacqueline Creeks (Ronnie) and Veronica Cotton (Albert). Her children Gregory Corsey (Teresa), Andrea Randolph (Lovell), Deveyous Corsey, Shonett Corsey (Reco) and LeMisha Fields (Tony). Her good friend Marie Hightower,15 grandkids and 19 great grandkids. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who love her dearly.
